I see this Psalm as a picture, a vision, of the Christian life. I also received that picture the first prayer meeting we had after you arrived at our church as a vision of what God would like our church to be. If we, both as individuals and as a body, remain planted, with our roots deep in His word, we will grow to be that lush and sturdy tree

Johnny & Ernie, Enjoyed today's devotional. There are times when we are going through hard times we feel the LORD's blessing is no longer with us, but that is not true - Job later finds out that God is in fact pushing him deeper. Calling Job to know him more (Job 42:5-6 I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes. ...I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.). And at the end of the book we see God just lavish Job with more blessings. Thank you for reminding me that He is with me through everything. God bless, Amy

Let me start by saying it may have been some bad pizza :) "Tribal Leadership is a business book, but it's interesting how they define a tribe. A tribe is a group of people 20-150. When they grow beyond that 150, they naturally multiply. That coincides with some evidence that if a church is based on the leadership of one individual it doesn't grow far beyond the 100 mark." Moses had his hands full when it was in the thousands :0 in deut 1:9-18 is when we see the structure for the leaders put in place. taking heads of the tribes, wise and experienced men then subdelegated authority. what is tribe matteh Definition: 1) staff, branch, tribe
1a) staff, rod, shaft
1b) branch (of vine)
1c) tribe
1c1) company led by chief with staff (originally)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
or (feminine) mattah {mat-taw'}; from 5186; a branch (as
extending); figuratively, a tribe; also a rod, whether for
chastising (figuratively, correction), ruling (a sceptre),
throwing (a lance), or walking (a staff; figuratively, a
support of life, e.g. bread):-rod, staff, tribe.
see HEBREW for 05186

What would it mean to "go tribal" as a church?
the first thought that comes to mind is the branch that rick e described with the church in moldova. The big question for me is where do you want to take this? How can it help build disciples today? I think some churches do this today. However, are they doing it solely for the demographics or for the building of disciples?

I will definately be praying for you. We have to believe He is a God who brings life to the dead, including dead marriages. Love her, and keep loving her. Respond to her in gentle ways. Allow 1 Corinthians 13 to define how you love her and allow God's presence and the fruit it brings to be loving toward her, full of joy even though you're in pain, at peace though you feel you're going through a storm, patient when you feel like biting back, kind (doing the small things that make a big difference), gentle when you feel pride coming on, faithful though you feel like moving on, good (beneficial), and under complete control.

I've also been praying Colossians 3:12-17 about the virtues we should put on in fighting fair. If you need anything else, let me know. My contact info has changed to johnnyaho@live.com.

Please pray for my wife and myself. She has left me. I am open to the change in my heart, my mind, and my will and my actions and I fully allow God to do this. I have made immediate changes in my life and my wife knows this. Please pray that my wife will have a change in her heart, her mind, her will, and her actions and that she would fully allow God to do this, and that she would make immediate changes in her life and be reconciled back to me. She is presently not open to reconciliation but has chosen the path towards divorce.

Please pray that:
1.) Our minds would be bound to the mind of Christ.
2.) Our wills would be bound to the will of God.
3.) Our actions would be bound to the Fruits of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfullness, goodness and self-control.
4.) Our hearts would be bound to the Heart of God.
5.) Our marriage would be bound by the Spirit of God and the Spirit of His perfect love.

That true change will take place in both our hearts, minds, wills, and actions immediately, and that permanent reconciliation will take place immediately through the Power and the Love of God.

Thank you

Jesus quoted Hosea 6:6 twice (Mt. 9:13 & 12:7), "For I desire mercy and not sacrifice". The examples cited demonstrate "mercy" of Jesus as well as a "living sacrifice" of Paul.

That is a great way to put it Johnny! My chaplain is always telling me to "be silent and know that I am God". I am one to have headphones on when I workout, at my desk, listening to the radio in the car etc. I am a part of the noise generation!!! Although I do still love/need my noise I have worked on time alone with God. I'm working hard on praying at my meals (primarily lunch because I usually just have cereal for breakfast and dinner). I also try to pray every night in bed and if I think of it during the day.

Being a Christian can definitely be quite strange/difficult but it's having people like you in my life that help keep me strong! You are a great friend/pastor/father/man!

Thank you for being my (all the above except father) I truely appreciate you and hope we never lose touch!

This is exactly the Biblical principle we are studying with Beth Moore this week. God help us to speak Biblical blessings into the life of our church and our our families.
